Break-in At Shoemaker

Ohio and Kentucky police arrested two men who allegedly broke into the University of Cincinnati’s Myrl Shoemaker Center November 27th and stole nearly $26,000 in concession sales.

Four police departments coordinated in the arrests of Justin Claybern, 22, and Brian Dougherty, 21, who are each charged with breaking and entering. Dougherty also faces a felony count of receiving stolen property, according to the Cincinnati Post.

Investigators said the men allegedly used a sledgehammer to break into a locked room, grabbed $25,760 belonging to Aramark Concessions and scattered in less than three minutes. The break-in triggered an alarm, the paper said.

Several tips led investigators to the locations of the suspects. About $2,500 of the stolen cash was recovered from Dougherty, but the rest was reportedly still missing at press time.

Aramark spokesman David Freireich told Pollstar he couldn’t comment on the ongoing investigation, but said the company is cooperating fully with the authorities.
