Pepsi Arena’s Cola Wars

The 10-year naming rights contract at Albany’s Pepsi Arena comes due at the end of the year and the facility is sending out a Request For Proposals.

That means it’s time for potential suitors to take a look at the venue, and arena GM Bob Belber recently gave a tour to three candidates.

In what could shape up to be new twist on the old Cola Wars, one was a rep from Pepsi, which could renew its contract, and another was an exec from Coca-Cola, a venue spokesman told Pollstar.

From all reports, the rivals didn’t have a battle royale in the hallway.

The original naming rights contract was reportedly $4.5 million.
