Miguel Charged With Assault

Grammy Award-winner Luis Miguel made an impression on the residents of Aspen, Colo., January 3rd but he allegedly did so with his fist.

Miguel is scheduled to appear in court March 3rd on a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from a fight with a bartender at the St. Regis Resort Aspen, according to police.

The Latin heartthrob and some friends were sitting at a table in the hotel lounge when a man walked over to them and asked Miguel to “sing a few bars,” according to a police report.

When Miguel said he’d do it for $1,000, the man reportedly said he wouldn’t pay 50 cents to hear him.

Shortly afterward, the singer’s bodyguard allegedly put Hardy in a choke hold and bartender Jason Moan stepped in to break up the scuffle. Miguel allegedly tried to pull the bartender away from the bodyguard and ended up punching him in the face.

Miguel and his bodyguard denied to police that the punch was thrown. The singer was issued a summons for assault and battery.

He faces a $1,000 fine or up to one year in jail if convicted, according to Denver’s Rocky Mountain News.
