Poster Contest Swept

The first, second and third place prizes for Pollstar‘s 2005 Poster Contest have something in common: the same artist.

Concert Industry Consortium delegates voted on various posters on display during the recent Las Vegas conference.

The winners – a Velvet Revolver poster for a Santa Barbara Bowl concert, a Pixies poster for the Sasquatch Music Festival in Washington, and a The Mars Volta poster for a Greek Theatre show in Los Angeles – were all designed by an artist named Emek.

He was also responsible for the No. 1 artwork from last year, that gigantic Pixies eyeball poster.

Emek has painted album covers for Neil Young and Pearl Jam and was invited to display his posters at the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.
