Rocio Durcal Dies

Spanish singer and actress Rocio Durcal, 61, died March 25th after a five-year battle with cancer.

Durcal was a childhood star who became known as one of Latin music’s most sophisticated and respected artists.

She was the first Latina to headline the Universal Amphitheatre (now Gibson Amphitheatre), and has played the venue multiple times.

She became a finalist on an amateur TV show and was spotted by producer Luis Sanz, whose films made her an instant star in the ’60s.
