Fuel Wants ‘Idol’

Being voted off “American Idol” May 11th might have been a shock to former contestant Chris Daughtry, but the 26-year-old rock singer needn’t worry about his prospects.

After Daughtry got his “Idol” walking papers, Fuel‘s Jeff Abercrombie and Carl Bell offered him the job as the band’s lead singer.

“Chris, if you are watching, we’ve talked about this before, and if you want to entertain it again we’ll take it and go,” Abercrombie pitched on the TV show “Extra.”

Daughtry, who worked at a car dealership pre-“Idol,” told reporters he was considering whether to pursue fronting a rock band or launching a solo career.
