Moran Tops Live Nation-NY

Live Nation announced that two top former execs of OCESA Presents/CIE Entertainment have been named to head its New York regional office. Former OCESA/CIE CEO Bruce Moran and president Phil Ernst, respectively, take over the reins as president and senior VP at Live Nation.

Moran replaces industry vet Jim Glancy, whose last day with the company was June 1st, according to a Live Nation spokesman. Glancy is taking a new role with The Bowery Presents.

As president of Live Nation New York, Moran will be responsible for overseeing all the company’s regional concert booking, marketing and promotion as well as supervising the New York staff.

Moran’s tenure at OCESA/CIE included managing the company’s international booking and talent buying operations and running the company’s U.S. -based businesses.

During his 12 years with the company, Moran was personally responsible for the establishment of Mexico as the most active concert market in Latin America by booking and producing shows for artists including U2, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Metallica, and Madonna.

Under Moran’s leadership, OCESA/CIE was named Pollstar‘s International Promoter of the Year for 2002. Prior to joining OCESA/CIE, Moran was VP of music for Madison Square Garden.

Ernst will continue to work closely with Moran at Live Nation, where he will oversee all of the company’s booking in the region. During his tenure at OCESA/CIE, which began in 2000, Ernst worked with Eric Clapton, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam and others, and also associate produced the Tony Award nominated musical “Tango Argentino.”

“We are confident that the addition of these two live entertainment veterans will allow us to continue to grow our operation in New York City,” said Charlie Walker, Live Nation’s president of music.

“We are delighted to be joining the Live Nation family,” Moran said in a statement. “As native New Yorkers, both Phil Ernst and I are looking forward to the challenges ahead and making sure that concert audiences in the greatest city in the world are provided with the greatest entertainment the world has to offer.”
