Kanye And Ludacris Off The Hook

Rappers Kanye West and Ludacris were cleared of copyright infringement charges June 1st in Manhattan’s U.S. District Court when a jury decided the duo’s 2003 hit “Stand Up” didn’t copy a tune written by a New Jersey rap group.

“I hope the plaintiffs enjoyed their 15 minutes of fame,” Ludacris said after the verdict was read.

The jury took less than a day to deliver the verdict after a two-week trial.

Rap group I.O.F. (It’s Only Family) sued West and Ludacris, claiming “Stand Up” sounded too much like the group’s 2001 release “Straight Like That.”
