The Living End Blitz Jack Awards

The Living End took four awards at the Jack Awards, held for the third year to celebrate Australia’s live scene.

More than 1,200 people attended at Sydney’s Star City June 20th, including members of Cold Chisel, The Vines, Rose Tattoo, Youth Group, The Hard Ons, Gerling, The Presets, and The Mess Hall.

More than120,000 votes were cast at thejackawards.com and through SMS, organizers said. Performing were The Mess Hall, The Hard Ons, Ratcat, Faker, and Van She.

An all-star tribute to Peter Wells of Rose Tattoo, who died from cancer earlier this year, included members of Grinspoon, Hoodoo Gurus, The Living End, and The Vines. Original Rose Tattoo member Ian Rilen, who is also fighting cancer, played bass.

Michael Chugg, who got the “Gentleman Jack” award for achievement, joked that 10 years ago he was told by his doctor to give up cocaine, Jack Daniel’s and chasing girls half his age.

“So I gave up Jack Daniel’s,” Chugg roared.
