Like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Radiohead, Seger’s music has been conspicuously absent from online stores like Napster and iTunes. But that situation changed recently with the release of “Wait For Me,” the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s first single from his upcoming Face The Promise, the first album the Michigan rocker has released in 11 years, scheduled to hit store shelves September 12th.

You can also listen to “Wait For Me” at BobSeger.com.

Seger’s longtime manager, Ed “Punch” Andrews, recently said more of Seger’s catalog will eventually reach online stores, and that they avoided online music stores in the past because both he and Seger believed the songs should be listened to as part of complete albums.

But if there’s one artist whose music should be available for download, it’s Bob Seger. The man behind such hits as “Still The Same” and “Hollywood Nights” was almost 10 years into a recording career before his album Night Moves caught the nation’s attention in 1976.

While Midwestern rock fans are pretty familiar with the entire Seger song library, those who discovered Seger in the last half of the 1970s may not be familiar with songs like “Rosalie” or “2+2=?” Nor are they likely to find those early gems in their local record stores. For fans, the time to put Seger’s catalog online is now.
