Working On Albuquerque

City officials have spent years pushing for a new arena in Albuquerque, N.M., to no avail, but a recent proposal for more public loan backing has once again brought the issue to the table.

A formal Request For Proposals will be posted on the city’s Web site. Mayor Martin Chavez said the best recommendation would be forwarded to the City Council and formal agreements would be signed in March or April 2007, the Albuquerque Tribune reported.

The five- to seven-acre arena / events center will hold 10,000 people, but cost is still speculative.
