Ahmet Ertegun Recuperating

Atlantic Records Founding Chairman Ahmet Ertegun slipped and injured his head at the Beacon Theatre October 29th while attending Bill Clinton’s 60th birthday party.

“He suffered a head injury and was immediately taken to an area hospital, where he has been under the excellent care of his team of doctors,” a statement from Atlantic Records said. “Contrary to published reports, Mr. Ertegun has not been in a coma, and he is currently recuperating from the accident.”

Word first came of Ertegun’s injury via England’s Daily Mail on November 5th, which reported the famous label chief slipped backstage prior to The Rolling Stones taking the stage and performing at the party.

Ertegun signed the Stones in the early ’70s.
