New Bay Area Stadium For A’s

The Oakland Athletics announced November 14th plans for the team to move to Fremont, Calif., where a 30,000- to 35,000-seat stadium expected to cost $500 million will be built.

The team, in partnership with Cisco Systems, agreed to purchase 143 acres in the San Jose suburb, which is about 30 miles from the A’s Oakland home, with intentions of breaking ground in the next few years and to possibly open by 2011.

The ballpark, which will be mostly privately funded, will be named Cisco Field, featuring the latest and greatest in technology, Cisco President and CEO John Chambers said.
