Trying To Save The Uline Arena

A Washington, D.C., venue currently used as a trash transfer station is reportedly being presented to the D.C. Historic Preservation Review Board in efforts to secure historic designation for its notable past and save it from the wrecking ball or redevelopment.

The former Uline Arena was home to the first Beatles show in the U.S. February 11th, 1964, back when the venue was called the Washington Coliseum.

The arena also housed the city’s first professional basketball and hockey teams, and Rocky Marciano’s first fight outside of New England September 30, 1948, where he K.O.’d Gilbert Cardone.
