Newsboys Expand Their Route
After playing a handful of warm-up appearances in December and January, the band will officially launch the Go Tour on February 15 at the State Theater in Detroit, Mich. The massive tour is currently scheduled to run all the way through the spring and summer, wrapping up September 8 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
The Newsboys have long been a staple of the contemporary Christian music festival circuit, co-founding the traveling Festival Con Dios with Audio Adrenaline in 2000. Their fourteenth album, Go, is the latest salvo in the band’s efforts to effectively bridge the gap between Christian and secular music, and to a large extent they’ve succeeded.
With its snappy drums, percolating bass lines, jangly guitars and lead singer Peter Furler’s uplifting vocals, Go could easily be mistaken for a secular entry in the dance-pop genre if it weren’t for the subtle Christian message contained within the lyrics.
