In addition to already announced 2007 tours of Japan and Australia, the band is headed for Europe for a New Year’s Eve performance and a spring tour, and they’ll soon be making their acting debut.

Scissor Sisters, John Legend, Nelly Furtado and Black Eyed Peas are among the artists who will take part in Nokia’s New Year’s Eve party, a global music event that will take place across five continents.

The party will travel from east to west starting at Hong Kong’s Ocean Terminal, followed by Mumbai’s Andheri Stadium, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin – where Scissor Sisters will perform, Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janero and rounding off the night in New York.

The event is being overseen by concert empresario Harvey Goldsmith, producer of Live Aid and Live8, and will be broadcast via television and the internet.

Scissor Sisters’ spring European tour launches April 7 with a show at Gasometer in Vienna. The band will swing through Germany, Sweden, Norway, Belgium and the Netherlands, before wrapping up April 23 at Olympia in Paris.

Tickets for all of the European shows, as well as the shows in Japan and Australia are available through links in the tour section of the band’s web site. More info on the Nokia New Year’s party is available at www.nokianewyearseve.com.The band’s acting debut comes Februay 8 – 9 courtesy of a two episode appearance on NBC’s soap opera “Passions.” Scissor Sisters, playing themselves, will perform two songs from their latest album, Ta-Dah, after they’re magically transported from a concert to the town of Harmony by a young witch named Endora who’s a big fan.

The campy guest appearance on the show apparently grants a long time wish for the Sisters’ Ana Matronic, who according to Jake Shears “has been lobbying for a chance to do the show since the band started.”
