Michael Unfit To Drive?

George Michael is set to face a charge of being unfit to drive at Brent Magistrates’ Court January 17.

It’s likely that lawyers will enter a plea on his behalf, rather than have him appear at the hearing.

Michael was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive and possessing drugs following an incident in his car in north London last October.

He’s had a caution for possessing cannabis and was charged with the driving offence just before Christmas.

The singer, whose 2006 European comeback tour was one of the year’s biggest live music successes, was arrested after motorists called police to report a car causing an obstruction at traffic lights in Cricklewood, north London, October 1.

He may find some consolation in the £1.5 million he reportedly received to play a Russian billionaire’s New Year’s Eve bash.

The unnamed businessman paid for Michael to entertain his 300 guests with an hour-long concert.

The lavish party took place on the businessman’s private estate 20 miles outside Moscow.

Other stars who have picked up big cheques behind the former Iron Curtain include Christina Aguilera, who was reportedly paid £1 million for performing three songs at the wedding of Russian oligarch Andrei Melnichenko in September 2005.
