My Brightest Diamond will open most dates on the trek, which will launch with two shows at Loews Theater in Jersey City, N.J., March 21-22.

The itinerary also includes two-night stays in Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The popsters will wind things up close to their Pacific Northwest home with a May 5 gig in Bellingham, Wash.

The Decemberists released their major-label debut, The Crane Wife, last October and toured North America throughout fall.

The band also appeared on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” for a much-publicized guitar showdown with host Stephen Colbert.
