Exit and Live Nation Team For Greenfest

The team running Exit Festival in Serbia is working with Live Nation to produce a one-day festival headlined by Red Hot Chili Peppers on June 26th.

Exit’s Bojan Boskovic approached Tuborg (Carlsberg) brewers in Copenhagen, which has a strong market share in the area, and asked how much they could add to the budget he had available to raise the guarantee for a Chili Peppers show in Serbia.

Tuborg was happy to meet the difference provided it was branded as a Greenfest, the banner under which the brewer occasionally sponsors events promoted by Tim Dowdall in Live Nation’s Budapest office.

The new Greenfest partnership was due to announce the event, which is at Indjija, a small town about 30 miles outside of Belgrade on the road to Novi Sad, at a March 1st press conference at Belgrade media center.

The only other international band expected to be named is Kasabian. Exit’s Rajko Bozic said some of the region’s top local acts will also be announced.

Boskovic and Ivan Milivojev, Exit co-founders, are currently in dispute over the right to run the festival. Dusan Kovacevic, the third co-founder, feels he has the rights. He’s also been talking to Belgrade promoter Maxa Catovic of Komuna, who’s interested in stepping in and buying Exit from the three of them.

After a couple of court appearances, the various parties have agreed a compromise that allows this year’s festival (July 12-15) to go ahead under Boskovic and Milivojev.
