A Volcanic Event
The annual event is designed to highlight the variety of the islands and will open with a special showcase produced by the Polynesian Cultural Center featuring music, dance and chanting from a variety of Pacific cultures.
Other highlights of the day include the Crater Cabaret, which will showcase local bands, an arts and crafts fair, and a wide assortment of regional food and drinks.
Fleetwood’s brand new Island Rumours Band is making its debut appearance at Diamond Head. The all-star band includes Molokai’s Raiatea Helm, Barefoot Natives’ Willie K and Eric Gilliom, ex-Fleetwood Mac guitarist Rick Vito, and Lopaka Colon from Henry Kapono’s band. In addition to classic Mac tunes, the band is expected to play Hawaiian favorites, island-flavored Barefoot Natives’ songs and assorted rock nuggets.
Last year’s Diamond Head Crater Celebration, the first public performance inside the crater in nearly three decades, featured the Steve Miller Band, WAR, Linda Ronstadt, Elliman, and the Honolulu Symphony, attracting media attention from around the world.
