Bette To Replace Celine?

At least one paper is claiming Bette Midler has signed on the bottom line and will replace Celine Dion at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace the end of the year.

According to the Las Vegas Advisor, the Divine Miss M signed the paperwork about a week ago, but no further information was available.

This follows some published gossip by Robin Leach earlier this month that Midler, her husband, and tour manager, choreographer Toni Basil were seen around town, with Midler doing some "serious research" for the gig. the statement said.

Diana Ross had also been named as a potential replacement for Dion, as has Cher. Negotiations with Ross fell apart, the Advisor said.

A representative for AEG, which produces Dion’s show, could not be reached at press time.
