Geldof Tops The Bild
Singer and anti-poverty campaigner Bob Geldof used his day as guest editor of Germany’s biggest-selling newspaper to tell the government he’s relying on them to do more to help Africa.
Geldof’s turn to call the editorial shots for the hugely popular Bild came a week before German Chancellor Angela Merkel was due to host the G8 summit in Heiligendamm, which opened June 6th.
Merkel has already pledged to make Africa a major issue but Geldof’s front page was a timely reminder, as it called on politicians to "Do Your Job" and help put an end to the continent’s suffering.
The paper also published Geldof’s interview with Merkel, during which she promised, "we will make progress in Heiligendamm that will move Africa forward."
