Modest Mouse’s publicist told Pollstar the lead singer was struck in his left eye by an errant bottle, explaining photos of the frontman wearing an eye patch at a couple of the band’s recent shows.

Brock was hit in the face with a bottle chucked by an unknown person on the street in Nottingham, England, May 28th. He had successful surgery on his eye the following week.

Due to Brock’s surgery, the band was forced to cancel seven June shows in Europe, three of which were rescheduled for early July.

The band’s swing through the U.S. kicks off August 1 at Red Rocks Amphiteatre in Morisson, Colo., and includes stops at Virgin Festival U.S. at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore (August 4), Lollapalooza in Chicago’s Grant Park (August 5), and Download Festival U.S. at The Tweeter Center in Mansfield, Mass. (August 18), and The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Wash. (August 22).

Scattered among the Mouse’s U.S. dates are a pair of appearances at Japan’s Summersonic in Tokyo (August 11) and Osaka (August 12), and the band will finish out the summer with a couple more European festival appearances.
