Timberlake Breaks Record Downunder

Response to Justin Timberlake’s first Australian dates in three years has set at least one new record, with 19,500 tickets sold at Sydney’s Acer Arena.

The first shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane sold out in 10 minutes, with additional dates disappearing in an hour.

Timberlake tickets range from A$98 to A$180 (US$81.20 to $149.10).

"The demand has been phenomenal. It’s the fastest-selling show I can remember," said Frontier Touring Company managing director Michael Gudinski.

The shows, starting in late October, will be Frontier’s biggest indoor production since it set up in 1979. Thirty semi-trailers will be needed to transport the stage around the country.

Timberlake has a policy of not doing more than two shows in a row, "But I’m doing everything I can to change his mind," Gudinski said.

In New Zealand, two shows in Auckland sold out in an hour.
