Extreme Makeover For CBGB

In a makeover to end all makeovers, the Manhattan space formerly occupied by sweat- and urine-drenched CBGB is being transformed into a high-end John Varvatos men’s clothing boutique.

For generations of punk musicians and fans, it has to be the final insult heaped onto injury since the club’s demise last year – Varvatos is better known for its $1,700 leather hoodies than thrift store leathers studded with pins.

"Not going to be a lot of puking when this place opens," Johnny Rosado of The Krays told the New York Times when given a tour of a Varvatos in SoHo.

The new store at the revered address of 315 Bowery in New York will open in the spring.
