Hank Thompson Retires With Illness

Two days after leaving the hospital with an undisclosed illness, country singer Hank Thompson canceled the rest of his tour to recover at home – and retire, the country singer’s spokesman said November 2nd.

The 82-year-old was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989 after 29 of his songs hit the Top 10 on country music charts between 1948 and 1974.

After treating his hometown of Waco to his last show October 8th, Texas Governor Rick Perry and Waco Mayor Virginia DuPuy declared the date "Hank Thompson Day."
