Dates, Dates & More Dates …

The new KISS dates for this morning are for Australia with the band slotting Boondall on March 18 and Sydney on March 20. Expect some new Euro dates to firm up in the very near future.

Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds kicks off a U.S. tour in Minneapolis on February 15. So far we have 13 dates in cities like Orlando, Tucson and Atlantic City.

Michael Franti & Spearhead heads to ski country with new February shows for Vail and March gigs in Bozeman, MT, and Teton Village, WY.

Dashboard Confessional (Solo) plays the United Kingdom in April, including two nights in London and one nighters in Cardiff, Sheffield, Glasgow, Liverpool, Portsmouth and Oxford.

It’s Europe and the United Kingdom for Feist. Ms. Feist plays Edinburgh, London and Amsterdam in May, Oproto and Lisbon in June.

The viking / folk metal band known as Ensiferum plays Europe in April and North America in April and May. Lots of dates in this one with stops in Antwerp, Linz, Vienna, Berlin, El Paso, Fort Worth and Atlanta.

And The Brakes have a U.K. tour starting in April. So far the city list includes London, Bath, Nottingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and York. Nine dates all in all. We wish we had more but them’s The Brakes.

In 1957, Elvis Presley recorded the song “Teddy Bear.”

In 1962, the Beatles signed a management contract with Brian Epstein. He had caught the group’s act at the Cavern club in Liverpool, England the previous month. Epstein cleaned up the Beatles’ image, replacing their black leather jackets, tight jeans and Presley style haircuts with collarless grey Pierre Cardin suits and the now-familiar shaggy Beatle hairstyle.

In 1967, Aretha Franklin recorded her first major hit, “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You),” at Muscle Shoals, Alabama. But the LP on which she was working had to be finished later in New York because Franklin’s husband got into an argument with one of the studio musicians.

In 1969, Jethro Tull played its first U.S. concert, in New York City. They were the opening act for Led Zeppelin.
