The tour kicks off March 1 at the Linda Norris WAMC Theatre in Albany, N.Y., and is scheduled to crisscross the U.S. and Canada through the end of April.

Stops include Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, Mass. (March 18), Birchmere in Alexandria, Va. (March 21), Club Café in Pittsburgh (March 29), Schubas Tavern in Chicago (April 4), The Plaza Club in Vancouver (April 11), Anthology in San Diego (April 18) and 5 Spot in Atlanta (April 24).

Country, which hits the streets February 26, features guests Charlie Sexton and Doug Pettibone, along with Merrit’s regular band – Zeke Hutchins, Jay Brown and Danny Eisenberg.

The singer wrote most of the tracks on the album while on an extended vacation in Paris following four years of almost non-stop touring.

Merritt will lead up to the disc’s release by previewing a new song each week on her web site and MySpace page.
