Phony Chef Nabbed At Qwest

Police have arrested a man caught posing as a chef at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho, reportedly in connection with a string of recent thefts at the venue.

Matthew Peppersack wore a chef’s jacket and carried a mop, apparently in attempts to appear as an employee.

But when an actual Qwest Arena employee spotted Peppersack and questioned him March 1st, he thought the man might be up to something fishy and alerted authorities, according to KTRV Fox News.

"When he was originally confronted, it’s my understanding he said he was there to clean up a spill, but the employee didn’t buy that," a Boise police lieutenant told KTRV. "He noticed he didn’t have any ID, noticed he didn’t recognize him from any previous contacts as being an employee and did a good bit of work by detaining him and calling police."

Peppersack faces misdemeanor trespassing charges as well as felony burglary and grand theft charges. Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be filed.
