Wrigley Sells Out?

One venue that’s avoided renaming is Wrigley Field, but the home to the loveable Chicago Cubs could someday have a naming sponsor.

Tribune Co. CEO Sam Zell has said he wouldn’t hesitate selling the naming rights, along with the team and stadium, according to the Chicago Tribune.

And naming rights could be worth up to $10 million annually. The problem? It’s Wrigley Field, for crying out loud, and the backlash against the naming sponsor could be severe.

"I think they’ll have a really big public relations risk," a marketing expert told the paper. "I think it’s a minefield for anyone to step in it."
