Chugg Wins Lifetime Achievement Award

Australia’s Michael Chugg received the "Bottle Award" at the 20th annual International Live Music Conference’s Arthur Awards in London.

The trophy, one of eight presented on the night, is recognised as the ILMC’s version of a lifetime achievement award. Chugg previously won its "Promoter’s Promoter" award in 2006.

"I’m very proud," Chugg said. "I came all the way to London to celebrate 20 years of this fantastic event. I always enjoy coming to ILMC and having the opportunity to see all of these great people in the business in one place at one time.

"I’m truly honoured to be have been recognised by people who are not only my peers, but also great friends who know and love this crazy business as much as I do."

Chugg’s company, Chugg Entertainment, is juggling 40 tours in the next few weeks, including major blues and roots festivals.

He also announced that Elton John would do three shows in Australia – in Darwin, Broome and Perth – in May after his Asian tour.

The deal though, Chugg said, was each city had to get 10,000 signatures on a petition to justify the cost of staging the show.

The Arthur Awards ceremony was held March 8 at London’s Jumeirah Carlton Towers.
