AEG Takes Over Warfield

The time has come for the changing of the guard at The Warfield in San Francisco.

Starting in May, AEG will be the facility operator, taking over operations from Live Nation. In other words, one of Bill Graham’s famed locations, a venue he started booking in the late ’70s, will no longer be in the hands of what was once Bill Graham Presents.

This is no shocker: Pollstar all but announced the shift in May 2005 after new owner David Addington of Fair Market Properties told the San Francisco Business Times that a new facility operator would run the Warfield, which is housed inside the Examiner building. Philip Anschutz owns that newspaper.

There was no word at press time as to who would take the place of current GM Matt Prieshoff. One thing is clear, though: The Warfield announces the formidable presence of AEG in the city by the bay.
