Palazzo Wars

The Palazzo Las Vegas hotel-casino, an extension of the Venetian casino, has turned into a battleground between two nightclub owners and their landlord, billionaire Sheldon Adelson.

Marc Packer and Richard Wolf are building a multimillion-dollar club in the lobby of the recently opened Palazzo but Adelson wants them to leave – big time. He’s terminated Packer and Wolf’s 10-year lease and even changed the locks at the club, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

Adelson says they were too slow in developing the club and providing him with detail for gaming regulators, according to the Sun.

Packer and Wolf got a preliminary injunction but Adelson – the 12th-richest man in the world – has a high-powered legal team that recently filed court papers to reverse the decision.

These three men have known each other a long time. Packer and Wolf run the popular Tao nightclub inside the Venetian and have already had a few run-ins with Adelson at that facility, the paper reported.

The Tao succeeded where other clubs failed. The Venetian has had several clubs – including one called C2K that was shut down in 2000 after alleged problems with drug use and violence – before Packer and Wolf built Tao.
