A Phishy Rumor

Rumor has it that four years after Phish’s break-up, the jam band just might be getting back together.

On May 21st, the same day Trey Anastasio received a reduced sentence of three years’ probation for a drug conviction, the former Phish frontman hinted at a reunion during an interview with Rolling Stone.

"When Phish broke up, I made some comment about how I’m not gonna go around playing ‘You Enjoy Myself’ for the rest of my life," Anastasio said.

"And it’s so funny because Fish and Mike and Page have been talking to each other a lot lately and now – it’s not that I can’t believe that I said that, but it’s symbolic of how much I lost my mind or how much I lost my bearings or something. Because at this point in time I would give my left nut to play that song five times in a row every day until I die. I certainly thought about that while I was in jail."

Anastasio spent two days in jail in January for missing a scheduled drug counseling session. He pleaded guilty to a felony charge for possessing painkillers without a prescription in December 2006 and faced up to three years in state prison.

The plea was reduced to a misdemeanor because he’ll have graduated from a counseling and treatment program in June, which he began in April 2007, and has completed community service work.
