Another Journalist Cut

The Washington Post‘s Richard Harrington is the latest entertainment journalist to leave print media.

The longtime Washington Post reporter was one of a handful of people to bring the late Eva Cassidy to the world’s attention after her untimely death in 1996, and one of more than 100 staff members to take buyouts from the newspaper.

The retirement packages were offered as a means to cut costs and reduce newsroom staff by at least 10 percent.

The buyouts marked the third such round in the last five years for the Post which, like many newspapers, is suffering from declining circulation and ad revenues.
