Court Passes On Atlantic Yards Case

The Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn, N.Y., was given a big boost by the U.S. Supreme Court after justices refused to hear an appeal by a group of property owners and tenants who argued that the seizure of land for the development violates the Constitution.

The project, which is set to feature the 18,000-seat Barclays Center arena that will house the New Jersey Nets basketball team, has been slowed amid years of legal wrangling and, now, times of economic downturn.

Opponents are expected to continue their legal battle in state courts.
