‘Big J’ McGinnis Dies

Jim "Big J" McGinnis, 60, president of Big J Productions in Louisiana and agent for Zebra, died July 6th, according to Zebra’s Randy Jackson.

McGinnis had apparently suffered a massive heart attack in October and was in rehabilitation when he died in his sleep, according to a statement.

McGinnis was agent for Zebra for more than 30 years and promoted hundreds of shows throughout Louisiana, from Jerry Lee Lewis to Cheap Trick.

He was also the promoter for the Rock Factory in New Orleans before it closed because of damage from Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Zebra was expected to play the last show McGinnis booked for them in Pryor, Okla., July 13th.
