Chesnutt’s Tour Bus In Crash

Mark Chesnutt’s tour bus was involved in a high-speed collision in the early hours of July 27.

The majority of Chesnutt’s band was heading back to Nashville after a Saturday night gig at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth when the bus was rear-ended by a car traveling at 100 miles an hour. The singer was flying to his home in Beaumont, Texas.

No one was injured in the crash, but the vehicle of the young male driver, who reportedly had been drinking and was driving without a license, was totaled.

"I’m really, really glad all the boys are all right. Thank God," Chesnutt said. "In as much as I was in the air, I’d still rather drive than fly. I love the bus."

The members of Chesnutt’s band weren’t the only ones with transportation trouble Sunday morning. One of two police cars that responded to the accident was delayed by a flat tire. The singer’s road manager, Kenny Thurman, helped out by changing the tire while officers were taking reports.
