Pyrotechnician Gene Evans Dies

Gene Evans, 70, pyrotechnics designer responsible for a dozen fireworks displays at the Hollywood Bowl every summer, died in his sleep in Anaheim, Calif., July 8, according to his partner.

Evans was one of the pyrotechnic designers for the 1986 Statue of Liberty centennial celebration in New York Harbor, according to the Los Angeles Times, as well as designer for Las Vegas shows and concerts from The Rolling Stones to Pink Floyd nationwide.
