Beer Deficit

There will be no more drinking at a concert series near Niagara, N.Y. – no more beer, that is, at what was the Labatt Blue Light Concert Series.

The series, which is promoted by 92.9 Jack FM, takes place at Gateway Harbor Park in Tonawanda. A short while after Dark Star Orchestra took the stage August 2, North Tonawanda police used underage decoys who were served beer, causing officials to down alcohol sales for the rest of the evening, according to the Tonawanda News. The promoter’s alcohol permit was then revoked.

The shows will continue at Buffalo’s Town Ballroom but, with no sponsor, the shows have gone from free to $20.

"We don’t condone serving alcohol to minors," Labatt President Glen Walter said in a statement, according to the News. "We notified both the event and concert promoter that we’re terminating our contract with them immediately."

Bruce Hornsby, Loverboy and Rik Emmett were still scheduled for August shows at press time.
