Springsteen In The News (Corp.)
Bruce Springsteen’s “Magic” tour may be winding down, but thanks to Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. empire, he’s never out of the spotlight for long.
The Murdoch-owned New York Post reported August 11 that the Boss – the Asbury Park, N.J., not the Australian, one – and his E Street Band will be featured performers at Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, Fla. Neither the NFL nor Springsteen’s camp is talking.
The day before the Post’s story, Fox News talking head Bill O’Reilly exhibited his literary skill with a Boston Herald-published column attacking Springsteen and others because, as best as can be deciphered, he enjoyed an Earth, Wind & Fire concert so much. According to Bill-O, Springsteen, Neil Young and Coldplay’s Chris Martin all “yell out dumb stuff to their zombie followers and revel in the applause.”
Oh yeah, and they all hate America. Take that, Dixie Chicks.
