Lennox good-naturedly explained the effects of the injury to fans in a blog posted on her web site.

“I came back to the U.K. and got wheeled off the plane,” she said. “A first I must say! Felt a bit like Elizabeth Taylor! Got an MRI scan this morning, and am now sitting up in bed with my left foot like a dead fish…freezing and numb. I’m going to have to get myself a crutch and a parrot, so I can fob myself off as a pirate and scare the neighborhood preschoolers! Just kidding folks!”

Although the surgery went as planned and Lennox is now recuperating at home, several events on her itinerary have been postponed including the Festival of Politics in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she was scheduled to speak about her SING Campaign, which raises awareness of HIV/AIDS.

The injury also pushed back the release of the singer’s forthcoming career retrospective, which was due September 16. The album will now be released next spring to allow Lennox to participate in its promotion.

There is no word on whether the incident will affect the singer’s participation in the upcoming concerts in New York City and London.
