The 9th Annual Latin Grammy Awards nominations were announced today at a press conference at the House of Blues Sunset Strip in Hollywood.

Colombia’s Juanes earned five nominations, including his La Vida … Es Un Ratico as album of the year and best male pop album.

Puerto Rican pop singer Kany Garcia, a relative newcomer, received four nominations, including album of the year and best female pop album for Cualquier Dia.

Some of the other nominees in the 49 categories are: Gustavo Santaolalla, Andres Calamaro, Julieta Venegas, Gloria Estefan, Victor Manuelle, Soraya Moraes, Ximena Sarinana, Pepe Aguilar, Andrea Bocelli, Daddy Yankee , Placido Domingo, Jose Feliciano, Vicente Fernandez, Gilberto Gil, Los Tigres Del Norte, Manu Chao, and Sergio Mendes.

The Latin Grammy Awards will be held at the Toyota Center in Houston on November 13.
