Sakamoto, along with other artists, scientists, architects, comedians, musicians, playwrights, composers, engineers, film-makers and journalists, will set sail September 25 aboard the science research vessel Grigory Mikheev and travel from Kangerlussuaq to Disko Bay.

The ship will then voyage across the front of one of Greenland’s largest glaciers, the Jakobshavn Glacier, which is moving at a faster rate than ever before and losing 20 million tons of ice every day.

Organized by Cape Farewell, the goal of the expedition is to engage artists to create works that communicate the urgency of the global climate challenge in a way everyone can understand.

Robyn Hitchcock, KT Tunstall, Martha Wainwright, Luke Bullen and Beatboxer Shlomo round out the musical roster.

Daily blogs, photos and video will be posted at CapeFarewell.com and available as RSS feeds.
