Umphrey’s McGee is out building buzz for Jimmy Stewart 2007, a digital-only compilation of a year’s worth of the band’s live improvisations mixed into two seamless 70-minute “mixtapes.”

Also available is CompendiUM, which offers live recordings of the group’s 10 favorite shows of 2007, including a March performance in Boulder, Colo., a June gig from Portland, Ore., and a December 30 stop in Chicago.

Umphrey’s dedication to live recordings follows the age-old jam band tradition of tape trading. The band has been releasing soundboard recordings at the end of each show for immediate sale since 2001, typically selling between 120 to 180 discs per night.
