Oz Festivals Sell Out

Despite some uneasiness about the health of the Australian summer festival circuit after The Great Escape canceled citing low ticket sales, other events have discovered that brand loyalty counts.

Four major events sold out, some even before announcing all their acts.

Sellouts include dance event Parklife Sydney, Select Music’s Coaster in New South Wales, the Victorian installment of Falls Festival and Meredith Music near Melbourne.

The 10,000 tickets to the three-day Meredith Music in December sold out faster than ever. Staff handed out tea and coffee to hundreds who camped out overnight outside ticket outlets.

This year, the festival’s tickets are in the form of wristbands, which punters must wear for the duration of the festival or get thrown out.
