Perth Has One Movement

Michael Chugg Entertainment, festival promoter Sunset Events and Los Angeles-based talent scout Sat Bisla of A&R Worldwide unveiled a new Australian festival called One Movement.

It will take place in Perth Oct. 16-18 next year and is expected to draw 550 international delegates and 2,000 fans.

Chugg told Pollstar its aim is for Aussie acts and executives to forge closer ties with those in Asia and Africa.

Much of the funding will come from the Australian government and the Western Australia state government.

Chugg plans to work with state music associations, emphasising that One Movement is a nationwide initiative.

But competing festival organizer Paul Bodlovich, CEO of Perth-based West Australia Music (WAM), was not pleased.

He said his company’s WAMI festival, which showcases up-and-coming acts, lost government funding to One Movement.
