Ducks Think Big

A hearings officer in Eugene, Ore., has given the go ahead for the University of Oregon to build what could be the most expensive college arena ever.

The 12,500-seat basketball pavilion is expected to cost $227 million and the school could start construction by year’s end.

NIMBYs are reviewing the Nov. 7 decision on a conditional use permit from the hearings officer, but one neighborhood leader said chances of an appeal are slim.
