Bassist For Platinum Blonde Dies

Kenny MacLean, bassist for the 1980s Canadian new-wave group Platinum Blonde, was found dead in his Toronto apartment Nov. 24.

When MacLean’s sister was unable to contact the musician for several days, she had his landlord let her into his studio, where his body was found, according to the Toronto Star. The cause of death is still unknown.

Platinum Blonde dissolved in the early ’90s, but MacLean continued to record. He recently celebrated his third solo album, Completely, at a record release party.

“He was incredibly happy – everything was going well for him,” former Platinum Blonde lead singer Mark Holmes told the Star. “Kenny and I even got together on the stage and sang three songs from old times. It was one of the happiest nights. It was kind of like a send-off.”
