Reuters reports the album’s release is in part a result of her father, Jamie Spears, assuming control of her business and personal affairs after the singer struggled through a custody battler over her two sons in 2007 and was hospitalized twice for psychiatric evaluation in early 2008.

The full album hits stores on Spears’ 27th birthday.

Artists including Fall Out Boy, U2, Lil’ Wayne and The Rolling Stones have previously released music on Imeem.
